Show Standards

To show Canaries in Queensland, one needs to be a member of a canary club.  The Border Fancy Canary Club holds a number of shows during the year and other canary clubs holding shows have a section for Border canaries.

Exhibitors at Border Fancy Canary Club shows can depending on their experience and success enter shows at the Open level or the Novice level.  A novice exhibitor needs to win a number of major awards at a recognised show to progress to the Open level.  Novice exhibitors need to be aware that while they win an award at Novice level, these birds do not always compete for the final overall awards.

Judges at the canary shows in South East Queensland have bred Border Fancy Canaries and have a lot of experience both in exhibiting, breeding and judging.  The following Border Fancy Canary standard is the description on which judging is done.  Border Fancy Canary breders need to follow this standard to achieve success on the show bench
